Resident of Gaffney Wins Chick-fil-A Scholarship
A sophomore at Anderson University, Michelle Painter, has received an S. Truett Cathy Leadership Scholarship from the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Gaffney, S.C.
A Gaffney resident, Michelle was one of the original Team Members hired at the Gaffney Chick-fil-A when it opened in 2009, according to restaurant Operator John Leary. “She’s been the model employee, from attendance to attitude to being a role model for others,” John says. “Michelle embodies everything Chick-fil-A stands for, including putting the guest first, continuous improvement and personal excellence. She leads by example in every area.”
Michelle is currently studying education at Anderson University, and continues to work at Chick-fil-A every other Saturday, holidays and summers.
While working the cash registers at the front counter, Michelle excels at multi-tasking, getting other things done in between taking orders. “She’s very organized and goal-oriented and always provides suggestions about how we can serve our guests even better,” John says. “Michelle provides a high level of leadership and is phenomenal at engaging our customers. She’s just a natural, and we are proud to award her this $1,000 scholarship to help her continue her education.”
