Chick-fil-A Hosts Three Community Events in One Day
It was a busy day recently for the team at the Westfield Broward Chick-fil-A, Plantation, Fla., as the team hosted three events in one day: a 5K to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, feeding hundreds at a Christian Women’s Conference, and serving refreshments at a fashion show benefiting the Women’s Heart Disease Association.
“It was challenging to manage three different events in a single day, but the support from our team was remarkable,” says Operator Mauricio Leon, Chick-fil-A, Westfield Broward Mall.
More than 1,300 runners and walkers turned out for the early morning 5K at Markham Park in Weston, Fla. Also in attendance were the Miami Dolphins’ cheerleaders and the Chick-fil-A Cows. The goal was to raise enough money to fund 14 wishes at $5,000 each for children who have potentially fatal medical conditions. When the final walker had crossed the finish line, they had raised enough to fulfill 17 wishes.
By mid-morning the Chick-fil-A crew was setting up lunch for 350 women as part of a Christian Women’s Conference at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale. And by that evening, the cows and team from Chick-fil-A had taken their places along the runway at Westfield Broward Mall, where they served lemonade and fresh baked cookies to those attending a fashion show. Proceeds from the busy affair benefitted “Go Red For Women,” a social initiative created by the American Heart Association to increase awareness about heart disease in women.
