Chick-fil-A Debuts One of the Most Nutritious Kid’s Meals in America
Already recognized by Men's Health magazine as having the “healthiest Kid's Meal
in America,” Chick-fil-A is making its children's meals even more nutritious. Beginning
Jan. 9, the restaurant chain will feature Grilled Nuggets as an entrée option for
children and Buddy Fruits® Pure Blended Fruit To Go applesauce to complement the
chain's other healthier side alternatives, such as its Fruit Cup.
Overall, the fast food industry has made great strides in providing healthy side
items for children, but Chick-fil-A is going a step further by introducing a healthy
entrée. In fact, it is the first quick-service restaurant to offer a grilled entrée
option in its Kid’s Meal, which will make the meal one of the most nutritious in
the country.
Kid’s Meal Menu Improvements
- Introduction of Grilled Nuggets
- 4-count nuggets (80 calories, 1g fat ); 6-count nuggets (110 calories, 1.5g fat)
- 100 percent all-breast meat chicken (not pre-formed meat)
- Addition of all natural Buddy Fruits® Pure Blended Fruit To Go applesauce
- 60 calories, 0 grams of fat and equals one serving of fruit
- Gluten free and contains 100 percent pure fruit
- Complements the fruit cup, which has been on the menu since 2004 (Chick-fil-A was the first quick-service restaurant to offer a fruit cup)
- Healthier choice available to kids at no extra cost
- Improved beverage options
- The chain is changing its children’s beverage line to only feature one percent milk, 100 percent apple juice, its signature freshly squeezed lemonade, and water as drink choices.
- Nutritious Kid’s Meal combination
- The Grilled Nuggets (4-count), Fruit Cup and one-percent milk Kid’s Meal option
contains only 210 calories and 3 grams of fat – reflecting an 86 percent cut in
fat grams and a 56 percent calorie reduction compared to its previous offerings

Other Improvements Within the Overall Chick-fil-A Menu
- Actively working to reduce sodium
- 25 percent reduction in breads, 10 percent reduction in s dressings/sauces, 40
percent reduction in Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich, plus testing other items (25
percent reduction in Chick-n-Strips, 50 percent reduction in cheese)
- Removed high fructose corn syrup from its chocolate milk, and some salad dressings and sauces
- Removed trans fat from entire menu in 2008

- Chick-fil-A’s chicken is 100 percent whole breast meat that is freshly breaded at each restaurant
- Salads, wraps and side orders, and most other products are prepared fresh daily at the restaurant
