Licensing Overview
Why Chick-fil-A?
It all started in 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill, in Hapeville, Georgia. Credited with inventing the boneless breast of chicken sandwich, Truett founded Chick-fil-A, Inc. in the early 1960's and pioneered the establishment of restaurants in shopping malls with the opening of the first Chick-fil-A Restaurant at a mall in suburban Atlanta in 1967. Since then, Chick-fil-A has steadily grown to become the second largest quickâservice chicken restaurant chain in the United States. With over 1565 locations in 39 states and annual sales of more than $3.5 billion, Chick-fil-A is still privately held and family-owned.
With 43 consecutive years of positive sales growth, Chick-fil-A has set itself apart by pioneering innovations and delicious products, including the ever-popular Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich and most recently the new Chick-fil-A® Spicy Chicken Sandwich. (See "Our History" section on this Website)
Licensing at Chick-fil-A
In an effort to win new Raving Fans® and build the Chick-fil-A brand, Chick-fil-A's Licensing program focuses on the development of new licensed Locations on College Campuses, in Airports, Healthcare Facilities and Corporate Services venues. We began our Licensing program in 1992 with the opening of our first licensed Chick-fil-A Restaurant at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Today we serve new Raving Fans® in over 220 Licensed Restaurants across the United States. We continue our licensing growth through strategic license agreements with the nation's top contract foodservice providers as well as high quality, self-operated foodservice providers.
By including a licensed Chick-fil-A Restaurant in your foodservice operation, you not only get one of the most recognizable quick-service brands in the United States, but also a retail brand built with the highest standards of food quality and customer service in the industry.
