V.I.P. Pregnant Mom
It was 10:45 a.m. I had dropped my 6 and 4 year-olds off at summer camp and ran some errands when it hit me. I'd LOVE a Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit. Luckily, I was going to pass a store on my way to my next errand. I crossed my fingers that they would have some breakfast items left over.
I went to the North Druid Hills Chick-fil-A in Decatur, Ga. which is a drive-thru-only store with three different lanes. I almost went to the lane where the passenger door is closest to the restaurant window, but then I remembered my kids were not in the back seat, and there was no way my 8-month pregnant body could reach effectively across the seat to negotiate an exchange of food and money with the store.
I started to reverse out and a Chick-fil-A manager happened to be in the parking lot and see me. He informed me, "The lane is open!" happily. I acknowledged that I didn't think it was closed, just didn't think I could make it work for me. He said to give it a try, that they'd make it work. So, I did. They even had the leftover Chicken Biscuit. Things seemed to be going my way. I didn't realize they were about to get even better.
The manager was waiting for me at the window to help with the food and money, but then he saw my pregnant tummy and said, "I didn't know you were expecting!" We will happily comp this out for you. I was so thankful. My husband has been trying to start a business from home since his job was eliminated after a year-long deployment to Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. We are so happy to have him home and are praying the new business takes off, but in the mean time, we have had to cut back a lot on our expenses. We miss getting to go get Chick-fil-A anytime we want to. I was going to use some money I had gotten from my baby shower to get the biscuit I so craved. I was really thankful I didn't have to spend that money and still get the Chick-fil-A biscuit, too!
"That's why I love Chick-fil-A" I said out loud to myself as I drove away.
