On Good Friday, my home was hit by a tornado that swept through St. Louis. Our oldest daughter was home when it hit and was knocked out by a tree that came through our roof. We were at the ER for many hours and up VERY late that night. We spent the night at my mom's house and were up early the next morning to go to our home. Upon arrival, most of our church family and many other friends had arrived to help. People were bringing by coffee, water, bagels, fast food burgers and tacos but we just did not feel like eating much.
Of course, it was all over Facebook and Twitter so many friends that we had not seen for a long time were calling and texting and arriving to help. One friend, Amy, that went to high school with my husband went to the CFA on Mid Rivers Mall Drive. She explained to someone at the register what had happened and told them how much we LOVE Chick-fil-A and asked if she could get a discount on a large nugget tray to bring us. The young lady at the register went to get Erin, a manager and she again told the story. The manager then replied with, "Is this for the Maxedon's? Hold on, I will be right back." She came out with a large nugget tray and a few sauces, one of which was Chick-fil-A sauce (my absolute favorite!!) and said, "Here. Tell the Maxedon's that we love them." Amy was completely surprised.
She was walking up the sidewalk to our home when my husband saw her and he was so excited for what she had done. He walked in and asked "If there was anything in the world that you wanted to eat right now, what would it be?" To which I replied, "Don't tease me." And Amy walked in with a huge grin. She was carrying the best, most delicious nugget tray I have ever seen. Everyone in the room was so excited! And we were all smiles and happy.
We know the Mid Rivers Mall CFA from our many trips to their store. We have become friends from our many visits and I can honestly say, they care and use their business as a ministry better than anyone.
