A Tale Of Bovine Love
Our family loves Chick-fil-A, but our two-year old daughter, Selah, REALLY loves going to Chick-fil-A. Whether at home or on the road, we always know that it's a place where we can enjoy great food, and oftentimes a play area for Selah to get some of her abundant energy out. Recently we visited a Chick-fil-A in Ohio and attended a family night featuring a campfire, s'mores and a story-telling pirate. As exciting as all of that was, our daughter was completely enamored with the friendly cow who visited our booth for high-fives, and who patiently allowed her to sit on his lap for what seemed like 45 minutes while the pirate told his stories. She beamed, swooned ... she LOVED that cow. She only had one complaint - "I really wanted that cow to pick me up!"
She continued to talk about her bovine buddy every day that followed, always making sure to say, "I really wanted that cow to pick me up!"
When we returned home to Philadelphia, we definitely planned to attend Cow Appreciation Day, but were really excited when we found out that there would be 40 Chick-fil-A cows hitting the streets of our city a couple days before. We didn't tell Selah where we were going, but loved watching her response when she saw three open-top busses full of cows descend upon the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She was in her glory, but it got even better! She enjoyed high-fives, hugs and lots of attention from the 40 plus cows, but it was when one of the cows swooped her up and held her that she was over the top with excitement!
This morning we put on our cow costumes to celebrate Cow Appreciation Day at our local Chick-fil-A. We have come to expect friendly interactions from the Chick-fil-A staff, and made small talk with Nathaniel who was working behind the counter. Nathaniel said, "Weren't you at the Art Museum? I was one of the cows, and I think this was the little girl who I picked up." It was great to personally thank the cow who made Selah's dream come true!
