Going The Second Mile
I travel quite a bit for work and am on the road nearly every week. Recently, I was on my way to the airport and stopped for lunch with a co-worker at the Ontario Mills Parkway Chick-fil-A in Ontario, Calif.
When I arrived at the airport just 45 minutes before my flight was supposed to depart, I realized I did not have my wallet. My co-worker and I started calling all of the last places we had been, including the Ontario Mills Restaurant. A team member confirmed that a wallet had been left, and Operator Ryan O. confirmed with me over the phone that it was mine. Once he heard I was in a bit of a time crunch, he immediately offered to drive to the airport with my wallet and meet me at the terminal.
Ryan arrived just in the nick of time. He handed me my wallet with a Be Our Guest card and I ran for the plane. I arrived at the jet bridge within seconds of the door closing and made it home to Kansas City, Mo., safe and sound.
Ryan and his team went above and beyond on this one; I would never have thought to ask a stranger to do that for me, but it was the first suggestion out of his mouth. Every day, usually multiple times a day, I tell the story of the great employees at Chick-fil-A and Ryan’s selfless gesture.
