15Th Anniversary At Chick-fil-A
My wife was part of the first 100 customers at the Cottleville, MO, store (Mid Rivers Mall Dr & 94) in April 2011. She had so much fun with it that we kept an eye out for when the O'Fallon, MO, store (Highway K) was set to open so that we could camp out with the whole family for it.
The date of opening was officially announced as September 22, 2011. Since we were married on September 21, 1996, this meant we would be camping out on our 15th Wedding Anniversary to try to be among the first 100 at this store. We created the poster shown in the picture to hang on our tent as a conversation piece if we were selected among the first 100.
Once the drawing started that morning we were worried whether or not we would be selected. We waited as selections 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 were made. We did not think we were going to be given the chance to get our poster out. My wife was finally selected as 97 and I was selected as the 4th alternate (104). We were able to stay and proudly display our poster.
When word got out about the poster on our tent, the store opening personnel made our 15th wedding anniversary a day to remember. Most of the employees throughout the day came up to specifically wish us a Happy Anniversary. That night the Chick-fil-A employees had the DJ play our wedding song as a special dance in our honor. They also gave us a present of 2 stuffed "Eat Mor Chikin" cows kissing, while riding a paper Chick-fil-A hat boat under a full moon (portrayed by a rose). Our story became such a conversation piece that we hit a couple of the local news broadcasts.
To top it off, 5 people did not make it to Thursday morning so once the final lineup was set, my wife was customer 92 while I was customer 99.
Our special day got much more celebration and publicity than either of us expected. Thank You Chick-fil-A for making our 15th Wedding Anniversary so very special.
