What A Blessing
In 2009 my brother, age 12, was in the hospital after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. We knew he had Crohn’s but not to this extent. It was a very unexpected fatal diagnosis and came at a very monumental time in my life. My best friend had just proposed in December of 2008. Christopher was admitted into the hospital on January 2nd and for the next 2 months, after treatment and a few surgeries, remained in semi-critical condition.
My family took turns coming and staying with him, playing games with him when he felt able and doing everything we could to keep his spirits high. My mother was his constant guardian; she was with him night and day and hardly ever left his side. I believe it was the end of February before she allowed herself the pleasure of venturing out with some friends. They stopped by Chick-fil-A on their way back to the hospital. Something went wrong with her order so she called and explained what had happened with her order. The staff was friendly and encouraged her to return so they could fix the mistake, that’s when my mother explained the condition my brother was in.
A manager was put on the line and phone numbers and names were exchanged and the hospital where my brother was located was mentioned. My mother not thinking anything of it told the manager and that seemed to be the end of the call.
That evening the manager came to the hospital with a bouquet of balloons, a stuffed cow and a FEAST of food!!!! We all were so overwhelmed by the generosity of the staff and support! Chick-fil-A has been my families all time favorite restaurant ever since then! I can happily say today my brother is doing much better! He has gained weight and though still very small in stature, is growing and becoming stronger each day!
Thank you Chick-fil-A for reaching out to our family and sharing a smile and a delicious meal! We will never forget!
