All The Way From Africa
Our daughter, son-in-law and sweet 4 year old grandson have been in Rwanda, Africa now for almost a year and a half as missionaries. Before they left (when Will was 2) we ate often at Chick-fil-A and dressed up as cows for the annual Cow Appreciation Day event. Will loved the playground.
While we get to Skype with them fairly often, we did not expect for them to come home for 3 more years. A month or so ago, Will said, "DeDe, when I come home, will you take me to Chick-fil-A?" Thinking he meant 3 years from now I said, "Well, of course, Will. I'm sure they will still be around in 3 years." Then he said, "And when we are there for your birthday in September, we'll have a big party!" Suddenly I realized that he didn't mean three years from now, he meant in just a few months.
I soon found out that they were going to get to come home for one month -- from the end of August to the end of September of this year. I was thrilled!! The very next time we Skyped, Will again said, "DeDe, are you going to take me to Chick-fil-A?" I said 'Well, of course we'll go to Chick-fil-A.' Needless to say, Chick-fil-A has left a big impression on him.
