A Happy Unbirthday To Me
The setting was my 12th Birthday Party in Columbia, SC circa December 1998. Picture a young girl getting ready for her birthday party. Mom was downstairs setting up the piñata, getting the tunes going on our boom box, and setting out the food and punch. The food consisted of an ice cream sundae station, chips & dip, and....(surprise Bianca!), a Chick-fil-A Nuggets Tray (maybe even two). Thanks Mom! I was even more excited about those Chick-fil-A Nuggets than my presents. Do you know how much self-restraint it took not to eat every last one before my guests arrived?
Well, all of my friends came. We were having a grand ol' time dancing, eating, and playing games. I was preoccupied - keeping an eye on my presents and making sure everyone was having a good time. (It’s important around that age to make sure you don't have a boring party.) Then it was time for the piñata!
Because my birthday is in December, we didn't want to stay out in the cold very long so the piñata portion of the party was fairly short. However, in that very short amount of time, one party-goer (I won't name names) managed to sneak inside. Initially, you would think she would go for the present table. But oh no, this girl was apparently as big a Chick-fil-A fan as I was because she managed take down almost every last Chick-fil-A Nugget we had! Thank goodness our Chick-fil-A was close by because Mom ran up there and got a new Nuggets Tray. All was right in the world again!
I've since learned that Trays are meant for sharing, but C'mon. You get that many Chick-fil-A Nuggets together in one place....how do you not expect one to be selfish!
