Last Lunch With The Ladies
As the details of my wedding day unfolded and decisions were being made, I began to think about and imagine what the entire day would look like. Not just the moments of the ceremony and the celebration with friends and family, but also the moments leading up to that glorious walk down the aisle.
I knew I would be surrounded by my sweetest and dearest friends during my last moments as a single woman. These girls had walked through life with me. They had seen (and still loved) me at my worst and had rejoiced with me in my greatest victories. They had even been with me every step of the way through this growing relationship with this man who would become my new best friend for life.
In the middle of all the planning and the details, I realized that these girls and women, would be by my side as I prepared for one of the biggest moments of my life. I also realized they would probably be hungry. And how could I neglect to meet their needs for nourishment when they had been so careful to meet my needs throughout the years? How could I do the best I could to meet this very basic need for food only mere moments before my grand entrance? How could I express my love and affection for them while also feeding their faces? How could I feed these hungry girls, covered in make-up and hairspray, without emptying an already very sparse check book? "A Chick-fil-A Nuggets Tray!", I thought. A perfect idea. And even more perfect? After adding a yummy fruit tray and a gallon of flawless sweet tea and the whole thing was bliss!
My last lunch-date as a single woman was with some of the best girls a woman could have and some of the best food a woman could have. It's a memory I could never forget.
