My husband and I were so excited to welcome our 3rd child, a baby girl, on September 7, 2012. We have 2 boys (6 and 3) so this little princess was a special addition. Her birth was wonderful and we were in love with her from the start!
We were ready to leave the hospital 2 days later when a routine discharge revealed a congenital heart defect called a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect). She was transferred to the NICU immediately where they found yet another, more serious, heart defect called a Coarctation of the aorta. Her heart was not able to pump blood properly to the lower half of her body because of a narrowing of her aorta. At 4 days old she underwent heart surgery to repair the condition. My family and I sat in the waiting room anxiously hoping for good news from the surgeon. We received the news that the surgery had gone perfectly and she was doing great!
Her surgery was during the lunch hour and none of us even thought to get lunch. Unexpectedly, a sweet Chick-fil-A employee arrived with a Chick-fil-A Nuggets Tray and a Fudge Brownie Tray from a local Chick-fil-A. The Operator's sister is one of my closest friends, and when she heard our story she just wanted to bless us. Needless to say there were many tears shed as we accepted this sweet gift. It was just what we needed to refuel our bodies before we got to see our sweet Abigail.
Words cannot express the appreciation for kind people who reach out to others in times of need. It reminds me that we are not alone during our trials. God uses us to love on others. We felt very loved that day and very thankful for Chick-fil-A!
Thank you to Lori Canales and the Northpark Chick-fil-A for reaching out to the Bradford family during a difficult time. You blessed us greatly.
We are happy to report that Abigail came home from the hospital 6 days after surgery and is doing great. Her big brothers adore her and she truly is our little princess!
