Champion Service
Travelling from Texas to Ft. Myers, Florida for the prestigious COP Classic, our team needed a friendly, familiar, nutritious place to feed our famished squad before our first round game. The vote was unanimous - Chick-fil-A. With an entourage of hungry coaches, trainers, managers and players ranging from 6’9” 250 lbs. on down you can imagine the chaos when we ordered. The crew at the Chick-fil-A at Cypress Lake never missed a beat and served us with pleasure.
With KU bound Zach Peters, top ranked Julius Randle, Mickey Mitchell, Prestonwood Christian was playing perennial HS basketball powerhouses, and considered underdogs. After our energy providing meal, great coaching and teamwork, we won our first round game and decided we needed to eat with Wanda and her team at Cypress Lake again.
Yessirree, we won! In fact, we ate at Chick-fil-A before every one of our games!
Before the title game Wanda challenged, “You're going to win this! Win and it’s shakes for the team.” She discovered our guys not only loved eating more chicken but also eating more milkshakes. Our opponent for the game had humiliated us earlier in the season on ESPN. Coaches of major college programs were there, KY, KU, Duke, etc. Dick Vitale addressed the crowd. The atmosphere at the BVHS gym was electrifying. Pundits prognosticated the other team to beat us. But, hey they hadn’t had their Chick-fil-A, and our guys were super motivated by Wanda’s challenge. You guessed it, we won! It was incredible.
The next day, after the glitz of the media dimmed and the sounds of the cheering crowds had faded, we headed over to Chick-fil-A with our Championship trophy. Wanda said, “I knew it from the first night I met you!”
As she served us our assortment of milkshakes, we thought, “Now there is the true Winner, Team Wanda”. Something special would ease the painful parting as we headed home. We knew we would return this year and Chick-fil-A would be the menu and recipe for success.
Thanks Wanda; not just for serving Champions but for giving Champion service.
