The "Drive" Thru
Many times my restaurant on Mt Vernon Highway in Atlanta is so full of customers it is hard for me to get inside to order my favorite dinner of an original Chick-fil-A Chicken sandwich with Carrot Raisin Salad and Lemonade. So I get in the drive thru and order to pick it up at the window in my electric wheelchair. I miss coming inside to see all my friends and visit, for they cut up my sandwich so I can eat with a fork. It would be nice to have some outside tables but there is no room, so I take it home, if I have to, and savor my meal, looking forward to my next visit....... which is often.
I do a PowerPoint presentation to parents and students in the disability community, for I have graduated from Dunwoody High School, have been fortunate to get a job and live in my own apartment with a roommate that helps me with tasks that I cannot do with my limitation from CP. I share the story of Chick-fil-A outings and drive-thru and how helpful and kind they are to me, and it is well received as a highlight of the presentation.
I attend Dunwoody Baptist Church, sing in the choir, and keep very busy in the community, evaluating family friendly movies that would be acceptable to all ages.
