What A Homecoming Surprise!
My family of six returned from a year in Germany on June 10th of this year. Throughout the year, we had many a discussion as to what foods we were looking forward to having upon return. Chick-fil-A was always at the top of the list.
Our flights from Germany were without problem, but also without food! Needless to say, after arriving at Dulles around 8PM, we asked my brother and his family to find us the closest Chick-fil-A. I wish I knew which Chick-fil-A we visited but all that I can remember is that it was on our way north about 10 miles from the airport.
Upon walking up to the counter, my husband proceeded to tell the person waiting on us that we have "waited all year for this day." And then he explained how we had family discussions over where to eat first and what we would order and how good it would taste. He finished his story by saying how very excited we were to be having barbecue sauce with our fries. We drink the stuff! After his thorough explanation of our anticipation of this food, we all proceeded to order to our hearts content. My brother's family also ordered making a very large order. As the two husbands argued over who was footing the bill, the manager simply said, "It's on the house. We are thrilled that you would choose Chick-fil-A to be your first stop upon returning to the United States!" What?!! Who does that?! The bill had to be over $60 as all 10 of us ordered a meal! What an awesome "Welcome Home" surprise this was for all of us. And what a great story - we tell it everywhere we go. As a result, Chick-fil-A should have many new supporters.
Thank you, Chick-fil-A!
