Our Happy Place
We moved from CT to Colorado Springs in November, 2009. After a long, dry spell of not having access to Chick-fil-A in our area, we were thrilled to move within walking distance of the one on North Academy. We've been to many Chick-fil-A restaurants in our lives, and have always enjoyed the food and pleasant employees, but this one was special. That move from CT to CO was stressful, and we had more stress with a new apartment that wasn't quite as it should have been, and a new job for my husband. Whenever things got to be too much, we found ourselves heading to C-f-A. It was the one place where the stress melted away and our smiles returned. All the employees at the North Academy restaurant started to feel like friends. We ended up instituting a Friday C-f-A Date Night each week (in addition to other occasional visits during the week). There were many weeks during those first stressful months that our visit to C-f-A was the highlight of our week. Things finally settled down in our lives for awhile, but C-f-A was still our Happy Place. February, 2011, brought us more stress. Burst pipes, flooding, and displacement for three weeks. The day we found out we had to move temporarily so our apartment could be renovated, we headed to C-f-A for lunch. Josie, one of our favorite people at the N. Academy restaurant, was our cashier that day. She asked us how things were going, so we told her. In addition to listening to our tale of woe with great empathy, she gave us our meal complimentary. We told her she didn't need to do that, because just being there was enough to get us through the day, but she insisted. "My pleasure" might be the C-f-A customer service code, but it is Our Pleasure to visit our Happy Place each week to fill our stomachs and our hearts.
