On Black Friday, my best friend and I decided to go to Morgantown Mall about an hour before the mall was scheduled to close. True to form, we ended the trip with our usual orders at Chick-fil-A. Upon ordering, I couldn't decide if I wanted a milkshake or not, and the cashier, Jared, told us that they usually turn off the milkshake machine about five minutes before nine (when the mall closes). Jared has waited on us many times before. We remember him from our frequent visits over the summer when working in Mount Morris. I decided against the milkshake and sat down to eat with Breanna.
As I was turned away from the front of Chick-fil-A, Breanna later told me that she saw someone approaching out of the corner of her eye. To our shock and amazement, it was Jared holding a milkshake for me. We were both so speechless. Then, he asked if Breanna wanted one too. A minute later he returned with yet another hand-spun milkshake, repeatedly telling us, "Don't worry about it; it's on me." We have never been more moved in our lives. If fact, that is the nicest and most genuine thing that anyone has ever done for us. For over twenty minutes, we sat and talked about how kind Jared was, not knowing what we could ever do to repay him for such a kind gesture. In the society we live in, so few people take the time to do things for others. Jared, changed our lives tonight. I've never felt so moved by someone--all because one man decided to make the night of two young women. I won't ever forget what Jared did, and this goes to show that there are still good people in the world with loving and compassionate hearts.
Thank you, Jared. We couldn't let your kindness go unnoticed. You melted our hearts, and for that, we thank you.
