Our son recently started working at Chick-fil-A in Brick, NJ. When I checked out their Facebook page, there was this announcement about something called, Cow Appreciation Day! We had never heard of this before! But when his sisters and I found out, it was immediately on our "to-do" list. We had construction paper and foam masks and pipe cleaners in black and white. So we spent the afternoon happily cutting and taping and gluing and twisting. What fun! Dress in white, add cowboy boots, a pipe cleaner tail, some spots all over and get a free meal. It kept us busy all afternoon AND I wouldn't have to cook! Woo Hoo!!
Of course, when we arrived and did not see any other 'cow appreciating people' we had a moment of panic. I am known for doing crazy things, but dressing up as a cow?? To enter a restaurant?? A quick check of their Facebook page assured us, yes this was really happening, so we started traipsing through the onlookers. We went at the dinner hour and the restaurant was FULL of people either in various cow attire (or wishing they were brave enough to be in cow attire).
First, a pic with the mascot. Then, asking the server if it really was true that our meals would be free. YES, ALL FREE! It was highly entertaining for my girls to see all the other cow appreciating customers. We sat at a window booth and every car that drove through the drive-thru line got moo-ed at by my cow-girls. There was great service from the staff and even though they were very busy, our meals were ready very quickly.
This is probably the closest I will ever get to being a mooovie star, and I loved it. We will DEFINITELY be planning on this again!!
