7 Minutes Of Greatness!
Our baseball team had finished a baseball game in Blacksburg, SC late and the boys really wanted to go to a Chick-fil-A for their post-game meal. It was a huge win for them and it only seemed fair to let them choose the place to eat. Understand that Blacksburg, SC isn't close to much of anything when it comes to eating spots, especially at 9:30 at night. The bus hit a couple of snags getting out of town and we knew time was running out for us to find a store by 10:00 pm. We found one off exit 90 on I-85 (Gaffney). We pulled up at 9:53 and one of the coaches didn't think they would be able to serve all of us and close by 10:00 pm. I decided to go in and speak to the manager to see if they could "bend" the rules for us. Well, not only did the manager say yes, but the entire staff seemed to chime in at the same time and said...."it would be our pleasure!" The boys came in and were very appreciative, got their food to go to respect the staff and we were out of there by 10:20. We're talking about serving 23 people, full meals (I'm sure the fryers were turned off and the kitchen was being cleaned), in about 20 minutes and delivered with smiles as big as Texas! We know that we had to have made some of the staff late for personal plans, but you would have never known it. We all were already huge fans of Chick-fil-A, but this was beyond the call and Store #2459 (John L., owner/operator) will always be where any of us choose to stop when hungry on I-85. You can't begin to understand the impact the victory was for the team in the baseball game. Just as the pure joy and love you poured out on us last night! For the time left til closing....you showed us 7 minutes of greatness! Coach John B., St. Joseph's High School, Greenville, SC
