A Name With Meaning
In 1999 I became pregnant with twin boys. My husband is in the US Navy, and he was underway for the last trimester of my pregnancy. We lived in Jacksonville FL, in Kensington. Twin A was not gaining weight and I was told I might have to deliver twin A to give him a better chance outside of the womb. Scary news especially when my hubby was gone. They put me on strict bed rest, bathroom only and to the doctor.
The Queens Harbor Chick-fil-A had just been built in the spring of 2000, it only took one visit for me, and I was addicted. Every single time I had to go to the doctor’s office I pulled through that drive thru. I was in love! Nigel came home at the end of March, time to name the boys. Twin B was named early, he was an active baby, and already proved difficult to measure. I still have the sonogram where it looks like he's waving at the camera. We chose Aiddyn - meaning fiery.
We had a harder time agreeing on a name for twin A. So when Nigel came home, one of the first things we did was go to Chick-fil-A. I confessed my obsession. As we were in the restaurant, which I must admit, I had not been inside until then, we both read about Truett Cathy on the wall. Nigel joked to me, "that's the name". I said, " uh no.. No way".
When we got home we both researched Truett Cathy to find out more about his business ethics and that he had done so much for the foster care system. I had grown up in foster care, and his love for God ruled his business. Admirable, but still not enough to clench the deal, for me. Nigel was certain and not budging. I looked up the meaning of Truett, and it meant little and honest. It fit. I gave in, reluctantly. When we told family and friends they laughed and thought we were kidding.
We weren't.
Truett Scott and Aiddyn Todd were born May 30 2000.
Truett is still considered small, especially compared to his twin brother.
Truett is an athletic, straight A student, with a strong love for God.
And, he shares my love for CFA.
