A spicy sensation is returning to the menu this fall

Fall is almost here and we want to help spice up your mealtime routine by bringing a popular, fiery favorite back to the menu. First introduced in 2021 to restaurants nationwide, the bold flavors of the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich will return to the menu on Sept. 12 for a limited time.

What is the Grilled Spicy Deluxe? 

Packed with flavor in every layer, this boldly flavored sandwich features juicy grilled chicken marinated in a spicy seasoning served on a toasted multigrain brioche bun with Colby-Jack cheese, lettuce and tomato. The marinade features the same spices used for our original Spicy Chicken Sandwich, while also incorporating new and bold flavors to create a taste customers are sure to love.

As summer cools down, Chef Angela Wadlington, one of Chick-fil-A’s senior culinary developers, and her team are excited to bring back the Grilled Spicy Deluxe to customers nationwide .  

"We know our guests can't get enough of our spicy menu offerings," says Wadlington. "That’s why we’re excited to bring back a spicy twist on our classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich this Fall.” 



 The flavors of the Grilled Spicy Deluxe  

To bring the Grilled Spicy Deluxe to life, Chef Wadlington and her team incorporated several key ingredients to give the sandwich a distinct taste unlike other Chick-fil-A menu offerings. 

  • Grilled Spicy Marinade – The Grilled Spicy Deluxe features a new marinade inspired by the recipe for our original Spicy Chicken Sandwich recipe, while layering in additional flavors and spices to complement the existing taste. “The Grilled Spicy Deluxe marinade offers a bigger and bolder flavor without adding additional heat,” said Wadlington. 

  • Multigrain Brioche Bun and Colby-Jack Cheese – “With the addition of the toasted multigrain brioche bun, our grilled sandwiches offer a unique element that guests won’t typically experience elsewhere,” Wadlington shared. “We also incorporated Colby-Jack cheese into the recipe to complement the bold flavors.” 

  • Cilantro Lime Sauce – This limited-time, cool and creamy sauce was developed specifically for pairing with the Grilled Spicy Deluxe, though guests can enjoy it alongside all of our menu offerings! “The Cilantro Lime Sauce helps to take the edge off the heat while adding a final layer of flavor that balances all of the ingredients together,” said Wadlington.  

Finding your perfect match: What to pair with the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich 

Whether you’re looking for comfort food or a lighter alternative to top off your meal, there are pairing options for everyone on our menu. With help from Chef Wadlington, we put together a list of the top three sides that best complement this spicy sensation. 

  1. Waffle Potato Fries™ 

    The most ordered item on the menu, as well as the preferred pairing for our Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, our famous Waffle Potato Fries complement just about anything. Made from real potatoes grown in Washington State, our Waffle Potato Fries are the perfect complement to the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich (and who doesn’t like a little spice with their Waffle Potato Fries?). If you’re looking for an extra crunch, try our Waffle Potato Chips.  

  2. Mac & Cheese 

    Baked in the restaurant each day, our Mac & Cheese is the quintessential comfort food and pairs perfectly with the Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich when you’re looking for extra comfort or just feel like indulging. It’s also the second most requested side to go with the breaded Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. With a delicious homemade taste, Mac & Cheese features a special blend of cheeses including Cheddar, Parmesan and Romano.  

  3. Kale Crunch Side 

    Our Kale Crunch Side is a blend of curly kale and green cabbage tossed with an apple cider and Dijon mustard vinaigrette and topped with salted, crunchy roasted almonds. As a lighter alternative, it packs a tasty punch and balances the spice in the Grilled Spicy Deluxe.
