Summer is here and so are peach beverages
For more than a decade, peach flavors have kicked off the summer season for Chick-fil-A® fans across the country, capturing hearts and taste buds as standout offerings.
Known for its classic summertime taste, the Peach Milkshake was introduced in 2009 and began Chick-fil-A's long history with the summertime flavor. The seasonal treat is hand-spun the old-fashioned way, combining Chick-fil-A Icedream® dessert with real peach puree. Topped off with whipped cream and a cherry (except when served via delivery) the treat is a summer staple.
A summertime classic rooted in memories
Truett Cathy's Icedream recipe, first served at the Dwarf Grill (now known as The Dwarf House® restaurant) in the 1940s, helped inspire the Peach Milkshake. The classic, old-fashioned vanilla taste brings together Chick-fil-A Chef Angela Canada’s memories of summertime togetherness.
“When tasked with creating a new seasonal milkshake, I couldn’t help but think back to my childhood memories of making homemade peach ice cream with my grandmothers,” said Angela. “I vividly remember the smell of ripe peaches and fresh milk and still cherish the memories of sitting together hand-cranking the machine.”
After more than 15 iterations of the recipe, Angela created perfection. Little did she know that her childhood experience would inspire summer memories for guests for years to come, evoking a feeling of nostalgia and carefree summer days with loved ones.
Bringing summer to every sip
To this day, the Peach Milkshake remains a fan favorite, with guests counting the days until they can get their hands on the seasonal sweet treat.
“Guests consistently ask our Team Members when the Peach Milkshake will be back on the menu, so we want to continue to make this a yearly tradition for them,” said Angela. “At the same time, we want to keep offering a variety of flavors, so we’re always developing new and exciting seasonal offerings in our kitchen, in the hopes of creating future fan favorites.”
Positive news for peach lovers
Maybe it’s because we started in the Peach State, or because the fuzzy fruit signals summertime. But whatever the reason, we’re bananas about peaches, and we’re always looking for ways to add it to our menu.
Luckily for peach lovers, we found it, and a new peach-flavored drink, the White Peach Tea Lemonade, sweetened up the menu during the warmest months in 2018. After a successful test, the beverage was rolled out at restaurants coast-to-coast, from the Peach State to the Golden State (which grows more peaches than anywhere else!).
The White Peach Tea Lemonade, now known as the White Peach Sunjoy®, is a combination of two menu staples: Chick-fil-A® Lemonade (or Diet Lemonade) and freshly brewed Sweetened (or Unsweetened Iced Tea), blended with natural white peach flavor. The flavor of the white peach, rather than the yellow peach that is featured in the Peach Milkshake, is the perfect complement to the tartness of a Sunjoy beverage.
Alongside the seasonal Peach Milkshake, the White Peach Sunjoy is returning to menus nationwide starting June 12, 2023. For a peachy take on your favorite order, you can also order the White Peach flavor with Lemonade, Frosted Lemonade and Iced Tea.
