This scholar takes time to invest in others and serve those around her
From day one, Amanda Yerkes has been passionate about helping others.
As a young child, her father was diagnosed with cancer and lost his job during his fight with the disease. Her family used all their savings to pay for the necessary treatments and, recognizing there would not be enough money left to help her go to college, she set out to work and save as much as she could to pursue her dream.
Having already earned an associate’s degree, she is currently enrolled at Georgian Court University where she is studying to earn a bachelor’s degree in social work. She has a vision of creating multiple homes that can support people battling addiction, abuse and loss. In the meantime, she’s serving as a Team Member at the Cumberland Chick-fil-A in Vineland, New Jersey, setting up the restaurant for success each day.
“We are so lucky to have Amanda’s leadership and her investment in the relationships on our team,” said Kelley, franchise Operator of Chick-fil-A Cumberland. “She really takes the time to invest in their futures and help them where she can.”
Kelley surprised Yerkes with the news that she had been selected as one of 13 Chick-fil-A Team Members to receive a $25,000 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Scholarship for her outstanding leadership, academic achievement and community involvement.
