Inside Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A, the #1 chicken restaurant in the United States, is excited to serve communities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) soon. Our first Toronto location will be at 1 Bloor Street East on the southeast corner of Yonge and Bloor Streets. The restaurant will be the first international franchisee-owned Chick-fil-A restaurant and is scheduled to open in 2019, employing at least 75 people. And, we are close to securing locations in North York and southeastern Ontario. When our restaurants open, Torontonians can look forward to the authentic Chick-fil-A experience: great food in a welcoming environment.

Chick-fil-A is focused on expansion in the GTA, with plans to open at least 15 restaurants in the next five years, creating 50-75 new jobs per location. The company is committed to building long-standing partnerships with local suppliers and to finding the right neighborhoods in which to grow.

Since announcing we were coming to Toronto, more than 3,000 candidates contacted us to express their interest in operating a location in Toronto. Chick-fil-A offers a low economic barrier to entry for ownership and Operators are the secret sauce of the company’s model, which is a differentiator in the quick service restaurant industry. Operators are full-time, hands-on business leaders who typically own only one restaurant. They are empowered to shape their restaurants from the front line every day, and their responsibilities include restaurant management, staff mentorship and making choices about how best to serve the community. As a local small business owner, the Operator is incented to invest in talent through competitive pay and benefits along with training and leadership opportunities.
