Welcome to Part Five of our Home for the Holiday series. In case you missed it, see the gorgeous modern woodsy wreath, the beautiful whimsical winter mantel, the stylish tablescape, and the simple card display tutorials by Alison O’Rourke and Allison Maucere, longtime friends and Chick-fil-A designers who have a passion for making everyday life just a little more beautiful.

Maybe it’s because of the holidays, or maybe it’s because another year is winding to a close. Either way, something about this time of year causes us to think about the people for whom we are most grateful.

“The point isn’t what you give, but pausing to intentionally thank and encourage other people during this busy season.”

So we give gifts. Big ones, small ones, and in between ones. But oftentimes, the most meaningful gifts are just simple acts of encouragement.

“Every holiday season, Allison and I do a Giving Day with our families,” shares Alison O’Rourke, Chick-fil-A designer. “We get together with our kids and usually make something small to hand out, like cookies or a simple craft.”

“We hand these out to neighbors, teachers, postal workers, retail workers,” adds Allison Maucere. “The point isn’t what you give, but pausing to intentionally thank and encourage other people during this busy season.”

Whether holding your own Giving Day, or spreading cheer throughout the season, O’Rourke and Maucere teamed up with Ashleigh Kimmel, owner of With Wonder Paper to create a 4x4 holiday printable to make the gift of encouragement easy, fun, and of course, beautiful.

Maucere recommends a few ways to gift it – placing in a picture frame, adding magnets to the back, attaching it to a gift, or using it as a card to write a personal message on the back.
