Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A River Landing is locally owned and operated by Thomas Overby, a Florida native. Overby was born in Miami and lived in the city until age 13, when he moved to West Palm Beach for high school. A few years after relocating to West Palm Beach, Overby had his first experience with Chick-fil-A when he visited a local restaurant. Immediately inspired by the restaurant’s great-tasting food and welcoming environment, it was not long until Overby applied to become a Chick-fil-A restaurant Team Member. After graduating high school, Overby transferred to Chick-fil-A Archer Road in Gainsville, Fla., to build on his experience while working toward his degree. During this time, Overby quickly rose to leadership positions within the restaurant and was promoted to Kitchen Director.

After serving the Gainsville community for two years, Overby and his high school sweetheart returned to his hometown of Miami in 2015, where he became the General Manager of Chick-fil-A Pembroke Lakes and the Director of Operations at Chick-fil-A Dadeland Mall. To continue building on his business and leadership experience, Overby started a leadership consulting company and eventually transitioned into consulting full time in 2017. After more than a year as a consultant, Overby graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and returned to Chick-fil-A to continue working toward his goal of becoming an Operator. Last year, Overby was thrilled to be selected as the Operator of Chick-fil-A River Landing and is now looking forward to welcoming and serving the Miami community, alongside his wife, Heather.

“I have called Miami home for most of my life, and I am excited to make a positive impact on the community that has been instrumental in shaping me into the person I am today,” said Overby. “Through this new restaurant, I look forward to mentoring my Team Members and building meaningful relationships with our guests.”
