It’s official: Chick-fil-A® Yorkdale Mall will open on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 10 a.m.

TORONTO (January 7, 2020) - We’re looking forward to kicking off the new year with our second Toronto location, and excited for it to be in one of Canada’s most popular food courts. Like our first location in Toronto, and more than 2,500 locations across the United States, the restaurant is owner-operated and features the Chick-fil-A brand’s signature menu items and welcoming hospitality.

In addition to its menu and hospitality, what sets this Chick-fil-A restaurant apart from other restaurants is its in-line ordering — a quicker way of serving our guests, as Team Members can take orders on tablets as soon as guests are in line. We are currently the only quick-service chain restaurant in Toronto using this method.

Our Toronto food story:

Torontonians can expect quick service and a variety of delicious menu items made with simple ingredients right in the kitchen. Since Chick-fil-A opened its first Toronto restaurant at Yonge & Bloor in September 2019, guests are loving the heat of the Chick-fil-A® Spicy Chicken Sandwich, as well as the sandwich that made Chick-fil-A famous, the original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich.
Other popular menu items include:

Yonge & Bloor’s top-selling beverages – Sweetened iced tea and Chick-fil-A®Lemonade. Did you know we refresh beverages free of charge?

Milkshakes are the top-selling dessert item. Flavours include chocolate, cookies & cream, strawberry, and vanilla.

Chick-fil-A Waffle Potato Fries® are our most popular menu item in the U.S., and a favourite in Toronto, too.

Meet our newest Operator:

Austin Harrison, the owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A® Yorkdale Mall, has a passion for business and has always dreamed of owning his own restaurant. The opportunity to own his own food-service business is what brought him to Chick-fil-A, where he opened restaurants and trained staff in new markets such as Portland, Seattle, New York and Chicago. He also worked as Director of Operations in several locations across the U.S.

“Toronto is an amazing city, and my wife and I are so grateful to be here. We love its urban livability, strong business environment, and talented workforce,” says Harrison. “It is our goal to run our restaurant in a way that allows us to serve our Team Members and the community while providing extraordinary hospitality to all.”

Investing in the community:

Harrison has hired more than 70 local part-time and full-time Team Members, some of them in leadership positions including kitchen director, hospitality director and HR director. More than 2,000 people applied, and each one of them was personally contacted. The candidates who were selected reflect Chick-fil-A’s spirit to serve.

“I’m committed to investing in Team Members through competitive pay and benefits along with training and leadership opportunities. In the future, a supplemental benefit I plan to offer at my restaurant is a language enrichment program for Team Members to learn or improve their second-language skills,” Harrison added.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Team Members can apply to receive up to $25,000 (Canadian) in scholarships to pursue the higher-education opportunity of their choice. Since 1973, Chick-fil-A has awarded more than $75 million (USD) in educational scholarships to more than 53,000 Team Members in the U.S. through its education initiative.

Chick-fil-A Yorkdale Mall is the second franchisee-owned Chick-fil-A restaurant to open in Canada, and the first Chick-fil-A restaurant to open in a Canadian shopping mall. The first Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in an Atlanta shopping mall in 1967. The arrival of Chick-fil-A Yorkdale Mall is part of the company’s commitment to opening 15 locations in five years in Ontario.

Chick-fil-A Yorkdale Mall will open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Like all Chick-fil-A restaurants, the restaurant will close on Sundays to allow Team Members to have a dedicated day off.
