NEW YORK (Feb. 15, 2016) – Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A, Inc. announced today the grand opening date of its second full-service restaurant in New York City. The restaurant, located at the corner of West 46th Street and 6th Avenue near Rockefeller Center, is set to open on Saturday, April 2. The two-story, nearly 5,000-square-foot restaurant is stationed just blocks from Times Square – the busiest pedestrian intersection in the city – and in the largest central business district in the U.S. It’s specially designed to serve customers on-the-go, and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Saturday. Chick-fil-A’s first Manhattan restaurant, located at West 37th Street and 6th Avenue, opened Oct. 3, 2015, with plans to open more restaurants in the city, surrounding boroughs and Long Island in the coming years.

Quick, Easy and Convenient

The new location is designed to meet high volume demands, and the pace and quality expectations of New Yorkers. Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will be equipped with increased ordering, production and assembly capabilities, extending beyond Chick-fil-A’s average restaurant capabilities to meet increased demand. To expedite the ordering process, restaurant team members will use tablets to take customer orders in line so meals will be ready once guests reach the counter. This process makes the expected wait time just six to eight minutes from the moment guests enter the restaurant to when they receive their food.

Fresh, Regionally Sourced Food

Chick-fil-A is known for its menu of fresh, hand-crafted food that offers a variety of options for guests. Signature items include a hand-breaded, pressure-cooked, boneless chicken breast sandwich, Waffle Potato Fries and hand-spun milkshakes. Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will use only premium ingredients and make many of its menu items from scratch in the restaurant daily, including salads using produce from local farms.

Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will partner with regional farmers and suppliers to source regionally grown ingredients for its fresh, handmade menu items. The majority of fresh produce for Chick-fil-A’s salads will be grown on farms in New York and New Jersey and will be delivered five to six times per week. The restaurant’s fresh bread will be delivered daily from Automatic Rolls of New Jersey, based in Edison, N.J., and all of the restaurant’s flaxseed flour flatbread, used to make Chick-fil-A’s low-calorie wrap, will be made and delivered by Brooklyn-based Damascus Bakery.

Like all Chick-fil-A restaurants, the chicken served at Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will be 100 percent whole breast meat, without any fillers, hormones or additives. Each chicken breast is hand-breaded to order and pressure cooked in 100 percent refined peanut oil, which is naturally trans-fat- and cholesterol-free. By the end of 2019, every Chick-fil-A restaurant will serve chicken raised without antibiotics.

Community Citizen

Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will create more than 200 new full- and part-time jobs. Known for developing and retaining young talent, Chick-fil-A offers a supportive workplace with competitive wages and respect for work-life balance (with Sundays off), as well as opportunities for leadership development and promotions that lead to management roles. To help its team members pay for college, the restaurant will also offer the opportunity for college scholarships through the restaurant company’s national program, which has provided more than $30 million to help its team members pay for college since its inception.

The restaurant will also partner with New York Common Pantry — a local organization committed to reducing hunger in New York — to eliminate food waste by donating surplus food multiple times per week. Chick-fil-A began working with New York Common Pantry prior to the opening of Chick-fil-A at 37th and 6th and has donated more than 1,500 pounds of food since October 2015.

Sustainable, High-Capacity Design

Chick-fil-A’s chain-wide sustainability efforts focus on serving better food in greener restaurants with reduced waste. Chick-fil-A at 46th and 6th will be one of the few quick-service restaurants in New York City built to LEED® specifications with water and energy efficiency features, air quality control and waste diversion efforts, among other initiatives. The restaurant will be among the first Chick-fil-A restaurants to feature an “InSinkErator” food waste disposal system, which spins and separates liquid from solids. This technology will reduce the volume of the restaurant’s organic waste by 80 percent. The restaurant will also recycle all cardboard and plastic used in back-of-house operations and will provide napkins, tray liners and Kid’s Meal bags made from 100 percent recycled materials. All beverages will be served in compostable paper cups.
