$5 Million will be awarded to Black-Led Nonprofits and those serving Black communities

ATLANTA (July 27, 2020) – Today, Chick-fil-A announced the beginning of the True Inspiration Awards™ application process. As shared earlier this summer, Chick-fil-A will award $5 million in grants to 34 deserving nonprofits that are Black-led or serve Black communities or other communities of color. Focusing in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger, this year’s grants will range from $50,000 to $350,000 and nonprofits in the United States and Canada have until Sept. 25, 2020 to apply.

“Because we believe everyone deserves a good meal, a safe place to call home and an education that helps them achieve their dreams, it is impossible to ignore statistics revealing that far too many Black and Brown children and families are not getting what they need to succeed,” says Rodney Bullard, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for Chick-fil-A, Inc. “There are incredible nonprofit organizations across the U.S and Canada that are working to address key issues of education, homelessness and hunger that disproportionately affect communities of color. We’re honored to refocus our annual True Inspiration Awards platform to support these organizations so they can extend their impact and continue to pave the way for greater opportunity and more equitable communities.”

Nonprofits can apply for the grants on the Chick-fil-A website starting July 27, 2020 or can be nominated by a local Chick-fil-A restaurant Operator. In November, Chick-fil-A guests will have the opportunity to vote for organizations located in their geographic region through the Chick-fil-A App. Award recipients will be announced in January 2021.

The True Inspiration Awards were created to carry on Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy’s legacy of generosity and community service. Since 2015, 136 organizations in 31 states have been awarded grants totaling more than $7.1 million.  Learn more about this year’s True Inspiration Awards here.
