What is Remarkable Futures?
Remarkable Futures is the name of Chick-fil-A’s educational assistance initiative designed to help offset the cost of higher education for Chick-fil-A team members and includes scholarships up to $25,000[1], as well as access to tuition discounts and other educational benefits at more than 70 colleges and universities nationwide.
What opportunities are available through Remarkable Futures?
Remarkable Futures is comprised of three distinct elements, all developed to help support Chick-fil-A team members in their pursuit of higher education, and designed with flexibility in mind:
- Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship: In 2017, 1,850 students will have an opportunity to receive a $2,500 scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year, with the ability to re-apply for up to four years – for a potential total of up to $10,000 in scholarships while serving as a Chick-fil-A team member. These scholarships will be awarded to Chick-fil-A team members based on leadership, academic achievement and community involvement, and can be applied at the institution of the recipients’ choice.
- True Inspiration Scholarship: In 2017, 12 students will have an opportunity to receive an individual, one-time award of up to $25,000. These scholarships will be awarded to Chick-fil-A team members based on leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and demonstrated financial need, and can be applied at institution of the recipients’ choice.
- Educational Assistance Opportunities: In addition to scholarships, Chick-fil-A, Inc. is offering access to tuition discounts and other educational benefits for team members at more than 70 colleges and universities nationwide, which can be combined with either of the above scholarships. Opportunities and eligibility vary by school, but benefits include tuition discounts up to 30 percent and are effective immediately.

How is Remarkable Futures different from Chick-fil-A, Inc.’s previous scholarship?
The Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship most closely resembles Chick-fil-A, Inc.’s previous scholarship. However, the amount has more than doubled from the previous scholarship, which offered $1,000 and was non-renewable. Starting with the 2017-2018 academic year, 1,850 students will have an opportunity to receive a $2,500 scholarship, with the ability to re-apply for up to four years – for a potential total of up to $10,000 to help offset the cost of education while serving as Chick-fil-A team member. In total, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has awarded approximately $36 million in scholarships since 1973.
How many scholarships will be awarded for the 2017-2018 academic year?
Approximately 1,850 of the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarships and 12 of the True Inspiration Scholarships will be awarded in 2017 to apply toward the 2017-2018 academic year.
Will there be a minimum length-of-service requirement for Chick-fil-A team members to be eligible for scholarship opportunities?
There is no minimum length-of-service requirement for Chick-fil-A team members to take advantage of Remarkable Futures. To be eligible for these opportunities, applicants must be employed as a team member by a Chick-fil-A Franchisee, a Chick-fil-A, Inc.-Operated restaurant, or an STC Brand Restaurant. Scholarships will be awarded based on factors such as leadership, academic achievement, community involvement and demonstrated financial need (varying by scholarship). A recommendation from his/her restaurant Operator or manager will also be required.
How many hours of community service does a Chick-fil-A team member need to work to be eligible?
There is no specific requirement for hours of community service. The level of community involvement will be taken into consideration along with other requirements in the selection process. Applicants need to have participated in community service in the 12 months prior to application.
Can Chick-fil-A team members pursuing graduate school apply for the scholarship?
Yes. Scholarships can be applied toward higher education at all accredited institutions, including colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools.
Can Chick-fil-A team members receive the scholarship funds for more than one academic year?
Yes, Chick-fil-A team members are able to apply for the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship for each year of their academic career, with a maximum of $2,500 per year through the Leadership Scholarship. Thus, team members can receive a potential total of up to $10,000 for higher education through the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship while serving as a Chick-fil-A team member. The True Inspiration Scholarship (up to $25,000) is a one-time award, and team members who receive the award are not eligible to re-apply. Eligible team members can earn up to a lifetime maximum of $25,000 in scholarships from Chick-fil-A, Inc.
Are Chick-fil-A team members who have already received the previous version of the scholarship eligible?
Yes. Chick-fil-A team members who have previously received the $1,000 scholarship from Chick-fil-A, Inc. are eligible to apply for Remarkable Futures.
Chick-fil-A is also offering team members access to tuition discounts and other educational benefits at participating institutions effective immediately. These can be used in conjunction with any scholarships awarded by Chick-fil-A, Inc.
How can Chick-fil-A team members apply for the 2017 Chick-fil-A Leadership and True Inspiration scholarships?
The online scholarship application will open on January 2, 2017 and be available until March 10, 2017 at 5:00 PM CST. The application process will then close until the following year. Chick-fil-A team members will be provided access to the application through their restaurant Operator or manager.
Can team members apply for both the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship and True Inspiration Scholarship at the same time?
Yes. Chick-fil-A team members are eligible to apply for either scholarship – earning up to a lifetime maximum of $25,000 in scholarships from Chick-fil-A, Inc.
Will scholarships be awarded throughout the year?
Scholarships will be awarded once a year. Recipients will be notified in the spring, and funds will be distributed in the summer to offset the cost of tuition for the academic year.
Are there any eligibility requirements to access the tuition discounts and other educational benefits at participating institutions?
No. These benefits are available to all Chick-fil-A team members effective immediately and can be applied once the student is accepted into the participating institution.
What are the plans for Remarkable Futures moving forward?
Chick-fil-A, Inc. and Scholarship America are looking to continue creating connections with local colleges and universities and expanding the selection of schools offering tuition discounts and other educational benefits. Chick-fil-A, Inc. will also continue to evaluate the effectiveness of Remarkable Futures and make adjustments, as needed.
