Restaurant Creates Approximately 85-95 Jobs in the Community; Guests Invited to Dress in Cow Print on Opening Day for Free Entrée

St. Albert, AB (May 14, 2026) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving Guests in St. Albert on Thursday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Samuel Messick to serve as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A East Village.

Located at 815 St. Albert Trail, Chick-fil-A East Village will serve Guests Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and mobile app ordering. The restaurant brings approximately 85-95 new jobs to the community and joins six other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the Alberta market.

Locally Owned and Operated
Having spent much of his early life an hour south in Camrose, AB, Messick said moving back to the area feels like a homecoming. “My wife and I could not be happier to call St. Albert home and to build our lives here while raising our three children,” he said. “Beyond serving delicious food, we are dedicated to pouring into our Team Members and local community. We’ve always envisioned our restaurant as a true community hub – a welcoming space to gather, share a meal, and create lasting memories.”

More About Messick

  • Growing up in Camrose, Messick built entrepreneurial skills through his own lawn care and snow removal business while supporting his family’s business at the Edmonton farmers’ market.
  • Chick-fil-A has been part of happy moments throughout his life, from his first visit during a family vacation in Texas when he was 14 to his wedding rehearsal dinner — which was catered by
    Chick-fil-A.
  • He spent the past 11 years as a leader at a refrigerated trucking company, rising to the role of Senior Director.

Opening Day Moove-In Party at Chick-fil-A East Village
To celebrate the restaurant moo-ving into town, Messick and his team are inviting the community to show off their cow spots at the Moove-In Party on opening day for a free entrée.

  • Since 1995, the Cows have been a beloved part of Chick-fil-A, encouraging humans to skip burgers and “Eat Mor Chikin.” Now it’s St. Albert’s turn to join the herd with its own Moove-In Party.
  • Guests dressed in cow print – whether it’s a full cow costume or a simple cow-spotted accessory – can enjoy one free entrée or kid’s meal*, to be redeemed in person inside the restaurant or in the drive-thru.

Caring for the St. Albert Community
Messick is committed to giving back to the St. Albert community by:

  • Celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to Second Harvest in honour of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Edmonton area to aid in the fight to end hunger.
  • Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared TableTM program, which redirects surplus food to local non-profits, helping to create more than 232,000 meals nationwide to date.
