35,000 students celebrate with nationwide 1 Million Book Giveaway

As students say goodbye to summer vacation and head back to school, Chick-fil-A® is gearing up for the 2024-2025 school year with the launch of the 11th year of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™, a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action.

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy
As one of the largest leadership-specific high school programs in America, the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program highlights Chick-fil-A’s commitment to nurturing the next generation through a blend of classroom learning and hands-on service opportunities.

Over the course of the school year, students from more than 1,200 schools and 43 states gather monthly to learn timeless, tangible leadership principles through lessons called ”Leader Labs.” In these labs, students learn various life-long, transferable skills such as servant leadership, communication, teamwork and innovation, equipping them with tools for their high school careers and beyond.

The program culminates with students completing end-of-year impact projects in their local communities, such as food drives, appreciation luncheons for hometown heroes, fundraisers, fun runs and more.

One Million Books
To kick off each new school year, over 35,000 Leader Academy participants from across the country joined forces to participate in a one million book giveaway, with the goal of donating one million books annually. The books are provided by Chick-fil-A, Inc., packaged at local high schools and given to local charities, elementary schools and non-profit organizations.

"The one million book giveaway is a great example of how our combined efforts can make a big splash,” said Joel Benson, local Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Hendersonville and Chick-fil-A Hendersonville South in North Carolina. “The collaborative effort from students across the country is even more special when students get to see the impact in their local communities by hand delivering the books and reading to nearby elementary schools.”

A Decade of Impact
Over the last decade, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy has grown to include more than 200,000 students across more than 2,300 schools and 45 states and has impacted countless lives in local communities.

Through a simple approach of engaging students in what most interests them, exposing students to unique ideas and insights and providing students with tools to put their leadership ideas into practice in their local communities, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is committed to fostering the next generation of leaders for years to come.
