How intentional mentorship and a commitment to growth transformed an entry-level role into a leadership career.
When Isaiah Chan joined Chick-fil-A Pittsburg, CA, two years ago, he was looking for a starting point. At the time, he viewed the position as a temporary stop rather than a long-term career.
“I came in looking for a job, but over time, it became so much more than that,” said Isaiah.
What began as an entry-level position quickly evolved into a path of professional growth. Under the guidance of local Owner-Operator Mark Brugh, Isaiah progressed through key leadership stages: advancing from Team Member to Trainer, then to Team Lead, and ultimately stepping into his current role as Assistant Director.
For Mark, providing growth opportunities is central to how he operates his business.
“My goal is to help every person who comes through our doors reach their full potential and prepare them for wherever they want to go next. We’ve watched [Isaiah] grow from Team Member to Trainer to Team Lead, and along the way, we’ve worked closely with him on building relationships, leading and influencing others and motivating his team to accomplish their goals.”

Throughout his journey, Isaiah learned that leadership is built on consistency, clear communication and investing in those around you. Now serving in a senior leadership capacity at the restaurant, Isaiah focuses on paying that mentorship forward to new Team Members starting their own journeys at Chick-fil-A® restaurants.
“I’m able to share the leadership skills I’ve learned in the past to help develop the future leaders here,” Isaiah reflected.
Isaiah’s story reflects Chick-fil-A Owner-Operators dedication to uplifting Team Members through formative leadership experiences. By providing growth opportunities and intentional mentorship, entry-level Team Member positions can become powerful launchpads for lasting careers.
