Kareem Edwards
Kareem Edwards is a native New Yorker, born and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens. From a young age, Kareem has always been determined to better his life and the lives of those around him.
Kareem is a first-generation Posse & Bonner scholar. He majored in Mathematics at DePauw and after graduating, returned to NYC to begin his career on Wall Street, working at Lehman Brothers Investment Bank. After several successful years in financial services, Kareem was recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as a part of its inaugural “20 in Their 20s”; a list of outstanding 20-somethings who are integral to the next generation of Chicago’s leadership in their respective fields.
In 2013, Kareem left financial services to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at The Ross School of Business, University of Michigan. Upon graduating, he was recognized as a “2015 Top MBA to Watch” by Poets & Quants. Post MBA, he joined Kraft Heinz as a marketer. There he led their Breakthrough Innovation team and launched the company’s first platinum product and brand, Just Crack an Egg, which was listed as a top breakthrough innovation by Nielsen. After Kraft-Heinz, Kareem worked at Google, where he partnered with e-commerce companies to build and strengthen their brands and achieve their business objectives.
Kareem is now the Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A South Loop which opened in January of this year. Through his experience in various industries he is able to leverage his skills to empower his team, serve the community and guests while achieving his business objectives.
Since graduating from DePauw, Kareem has remained engaged through mentoring numerous students and currently serves on DePauw’s McDermond Center Board of Advisors.
Kareem resides in Chicago with his wife of 10+ years, Janelle Edwards whom he met at DePauw is also class of 2007. Kareem and Janelle have two daughters who are fierce and loving!
