Restaurant celebrates with Cows Eat Free offer on opening day
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Santa Maria community at its newest location on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at 6:30 a.m. Chick-fil-A, Inc. selected Joey Hickox to be the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A 101 & Broadway, marking his second restaurant in the community.
To celebrate the opening, Hickox and team are calling on the community to show their spots on opening day! Whether it’s a full cow suit or a simple cow-spotted accessory, Guests of all ages are invited to join the fun. Anyone who visits the restaurant on opening day dressed in cow attire can redeem one free entrée* or kid’s meal inside the restaurant or in the drive-thru.
Located at 2140 N. Preisker Lane, Chick-fil-A 101 & Broadway will serve Guests Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, catering and Mobile Thru. The drive-thru will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.

“Service and care have always been the thread guiding how I live my life,” said Hickox. “After serving in the military for almost 30 years, I knew that in retirement I desired an opportunity to continue weaving those principles into my daily life, which made Chick-fil-A an attractive prospect. Since becoming an Operator, I’ve had the immense pleasure of showing care and training the next generation of leaders to serve in the restaurant. With the opening of Chick-fil-A 101 & Broadway, I’m excited to continue fostering an environment that allows Team Members to be successful.”
As an Atlanta native, Hickox was always familiar with Chick-fil-A, primarily it’s delicious food and signature hospitality. It wasn’t until he attended a military retirement fair after almost 30 years of service that he reimagined what the next phase of his life could be. After conversations with the on-site recruitment team and close friends who were also local Owner-Operators, Hickox was ready to embark on this new chapter and take on a new challenge that would allow him to continue serving others in a different capacity.
For the next two years, Hickox immersed himself in training and development, learning the ins and outs of restaurant leadership. His dedication and perseverance paid off when he was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Enos Ranch in 2018, which he will continue to operate alongside the new restaurant.
Caring for the Santa Maria Community
Hickox is committed to giving back to the Santa Maria community by:
- Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits, helping to create over 42 million meals nationwide to date. Since 2018, Hickox’s Enos Ranch location has helped provide over 40,000 meals to the local community through its partnership with the Central Coast Rescue Mission.
- Celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to support local hunger relief efforts of Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
- Creating approximately 100 jobs in the Santa Maria community.
