Restaurant Brings Approximately 110 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year 

DALLAS (Feb. 12, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the East Dallas community on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Michael Walkup as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Highland Meadows.  

Located at 11875 E Northwest Highway, Chick-fil-A Highland Meadows will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and Mobile Thru from 6:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday.   

The Highland Meadows restaurant joins more than 140 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Dallas-Ft. Worth market.  

Locally Owned and Operated  
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.  

In East Dallas, Walkup will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 110 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the East Dallas community’s needs.   

Walkup has spent his life in Dallas, from growing up in nearby Grapevine to having a career in accounting prior to joining Chick-fil-A. Walkup was selected as the Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A North Park Center in 2014, before receiving the opportunity to relocate and serve the East Dallas community. In 2017, he became Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A White Rock when the opportunity arose. Now, with the opening of Chick-fil-A Highland Meadows, he is excited for his team to welcome even more community in his restaurants. Walkup will continue to operate Chick-fil-A White Rock in addition to the new restaurant.

I can’t imagine my life without Chick-fil-A, and hope that every Guest we serve feels the same.”    

Caring for the East Dallas Community  
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.   

Walkup has established several efforts to serve vulnerable populations in Dallas, including donating sandwiches every week to Acts Ministries, Maggie’s House and Hope Dallas.   

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Dallas-Ft. Worth area to aid in the fight against hunger.   

Both of Walkup’s restaurant will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 25 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada. Chick-fil-A White Rock will continue to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, while Chick-fil-A Highland Meadows will begin its participation upon opening.  

In addition, Chick-fil-A Highland Meadows is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the East Dallas area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
