Puerto Rico’s Fifth Restaurant Brings Approximately 140 Full- and Part-Time Jobs,  Honors 100 Community Heroes With Free Chick-fil-A Entrees for a Year

Ponce, Puerto Rico (September 25, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A^® restaurant will begin serving the Ponce community and surrounding Southern region of Puerto Rico on Thursday, October 5. Chick-fil-A has selected Mingo Burgos as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Reina del Sur.

Located at 5505 Ave Baramaya, Chick-fil-A Reina del Sur will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and catering from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Ponce restaurant is the first Chick-fil-A restaurant on the south side of the island. Chick-fil-A is proud of its growth in Puerto Rico, now with a total of 5 restaurants: Los Filtros, Plaza del Sol, Humacao, Hatillo and Reina del Sur.

Locally Owned and Operated   
As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Owner/Operators of Chick-fil-A restaurants proudly reside in the areas in which they serve. 
In Ponce, Burgos will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 140 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.   

Burgos spent his childhood along Puerto Rico’s southern coast in Ponce. He later moved to Rochester, New York with his grandmother and younger brother where he attended high school and later joined the Navy. Prior to being selected as a local Owner/Operator, he spent 16 years in the automobile industry in Arizona and Texas, where he served as a Director of Inventory. 

Burgos now lives in Ponce with his wife Marie, who is also a Ponce native, and his two children, Natalie and Nathan. In honor of the new restaurant opening, Chick-fil-A Ponce is recognizing 100 community heroes from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs CPT. Eurípides Rubio Jr. Outpatient Clinic, Estación de Bomberos El Tuque and Estación de Bomberos – Ponce Central, making an impact in the Ponce area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrees fo a year.

• In its Puerto Rico restaurants, Chick-fil-A serves coffee that is 100% locally grown and roasted in Puerto Rico. At the restaurant, Chick-fil-A Team Members are trained barista-style to hand-make four coffee offerings: latte, cortado, americano and espresso.  

• Chick-fil-A introduced two new seasonal and sweet menu items exclusively in Puerto Rico, the Caramel Milkshake and the Caramel Sundae. The products will be available in participating restaurants on the island while supplies last until Nov. 11.  

Island Expansion   
Chick-fil-A is continuing to grow in Puerto Rico with plans to open 20 additional restaurants by 2030, including a second restaurant in Ponce located at PR 14 & Navarra.
