Restaurant Brings Approximately 60 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year

HOOVER, Ala. (April 29, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A^® restaurant will begin serving the Hoover community on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Mark Meadows as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Valleydale. 

Located at 5331 Valleydale Road, Chick-fil-A Valleydale will be open for dine-in, carry-out and curbside delivery from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. 

The Chick-fil-A Valleydale restaurant joins 40 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Birmingham market. 

Locally Owned and Operated  
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day. 

At Chick-fil-A Valleydale, Meadows will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 60 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Hoover community’s needs. 

Born and raised in Birmingham, Meadows has a deep-rooted connection to the Chick-fil-A brand. He was first introduced 40 years ago through his wife, Kim, who is the great-niece of Chick-fil-A, Inc.’s founder, S. Truett Cathy. Meadows and Kim frequently visited their local Chick-fil-A often, where Meadows was drawn by the Company’s vision of caring for all. 

While attending Samford University in Birmingham, Meadows began his career with Chick-fil-A at the Brookwood Village Mall location. Working alongside many veteran local Owner-Operators in various positions, he learned the ins and outs of the business. In 1989, Meadows achieved a significant personal milestone when he was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Inverness. Meadows will continue to operate Chick-fil-A Inverness in addition to his new restaurant on Valleydale Road. 

“It’s been over 30 years since I opened my first restaurant and a lot has changed, but the one thing that has remained the same is our commitment to making a positive impact on everyone we encounter,” said Meadows. “As we open on Valleydale Road, we invite Guests to visit us for the delicious food they know and love, and we hope they stay for the warm hospitality that has been our hallmark since day one.” 

Caring for the Hoover Community  
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs. 

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant. 

Meadow’s restaurant is participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table^® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 25 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada. 

In addition, Chick-fil-A Valleydale is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Hoover area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
