Restaurant Brings Approximately 100 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community
WYNCOTE, Pa. (Dec. 9, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Wyncote community on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Lawrence Kibunjah as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Cedarbrook Plaza.
Located at 1000 Easton Road, Chick-fil-A Cedarbrook Plaza will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, delivery and Mobile Thru, a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru where Guests can pick up orders placed ahead of time on the Chick-fil-A App®, from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
The Cedarbrook Plaza restaurant joins more than 85 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Philadelphia market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Wyncote, Kibunjah will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 100 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Wyncote community’s needs.
Kibunjah immigrated to the United States 31 years ago and began a six-year career in the quick-service restaurant industry. In 1999, he started his Chick-fil-A journey as a Team Member before joining the Chick-fil-A Leadership Development Program in 2008. Over his two years in the program, he learned the ins and outs of the Chick-fil-A restaurant while honing his leadership skills and supporting Operators across the country. In 2010, he was selected to be the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Cheltenham, which he will continue to operate in addition to the new restaurant.
With Chick-fil-A Cedarbrook Plaza, Kibunjah is most excited about creating more leadership opportunities for his Team Members, many of whom have grown and thrived under his mentorship at Chick-fil-A Cheltenham and will transition to serving at the new restaurant. He is deeply passionate about fostering career growth for his Team Members, particularly for those who have faced unique life challenges or barriers to opportunity.
“Opening this new restaurant is not just about serving great food, it’s about creating opportunities for my Team Members to grow,” Kibunjah said. “Many of my Team Members have been with me for years, and it’s truly rewarding to watch them develop, both professionally and personally. Helping them build their careers and reach their full potential – while also serving our many wonderful Guests – is what drives me every day.”
Caring for the Wyncote Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Philadelphia area to aid in the fight against hunger.
Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators strive to hire, develop and retain top talent, helping future leaders optimize their skills and providing pathways for personal and professional development in a welcoming, purpose-driven environment. A career at Chick-fil-A offers a wide range of benefits, including hands-on training and mentoring, competitive pay and benefits, the chance to apply for scholarships to support continued education, and the flexibility to thrive in and outside of work. Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are committed to preparing their team for the future, wherever it may lead. To learn more about careers at Chick-fil-A, click here.
