NEW CASTLE, Del. (Sept. 25, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the New Castle community on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Angelo Santos as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A North Dupont Highway.
Located at 4008 N. The North Dupont Highway restaurant joins more than 85 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Philadelphia market.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In New Castle, Santos will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 130 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the New Castle community’s needs.
Santos’ story is the true embodiment of building a career from the ground up – and overcoming the odds while doing so. A native of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, Santos grew up in a single-parent home. At the age of 16, Santos began his first job as a Team Member at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Ridley, Pennsylvania, where he discovered his passion for service. After a brief stint in the HVAC trade industry, Santos longed for a more fulfilling career, so he decided to return to Philadelphia and to Chick-fil-A. With hard work and dedication, he quickly moved up the ladder to become General Manager.
A visit from a Chick-fil-A consultant sparked his desire to one day become a Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operator himself, which he hadn’t thought was possible until then. Santos was introduced to local Owner-Operator Stanley Webster, and he worked for Webster for over three years at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Philadelphia, gaining valuable mentorship and leadership skills along the way. With Webster’s guidance, Santos joined the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program, and after three years in the program, he was selected to become the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A North Dupont Highway – fulfilling a dream he once thought was unattainable.
"I am most looking forward to being a beacon of hope in the New Castle community, as I have witnessed other local Owner-Operators make an impact in their communities," said Santos. "I want to bring real change by providing career opportunities and leadership growth to my Team Members. Starting mentorship programs, attending career days and sharing my journey at local organizations are all goals of mine as I open Chick-fil-A North Dupont Highway. It’s my desire to give back and inspire hope in others."
Caring for the New Castle Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of the Food Bank of Delaware, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
Santos’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A North Dupont Highway is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the New Castle area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
