Guided by strong family values, David is ready to create a place of care, connection, and lasting impact in Isabela
A Foundation Built on Puerto Rican Roots
Born in Santurce and raised between Puerto Rico’s metro area and the island’s west coast, David’s connection to his homeland is deeply rooted in family and tradition. His most cherished memories are from Cabo Rojo, where his extended family still gathers to celebrate special occasions. Those moments filled with laughter, warmth, and generosity instilled in him the values of hospitality and community that now inspire his vision for his restaurant.
After earning a degree in accounting from the University of Puerto Rico in Bayamón, David spent over 30 years building a successful career in finance, operations and executive leadership. Over time, he began seeking a new chapter, one that would allow him to create something lasting and meaningful alongside his family.
In 2014, David first experienced Chick-fil-A in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was struck by the warm, attentive service. “They brought the food to your table and offered drink refills,” said David. “It was unlike anything I’d seen in a quick service restaurant.” He couldn’t wait to share the experience with his wife, Vilmarie, and their daughters, Andrea and Natalia. Chick-fil-A quickly became a family favorite.
Discovering a Family Business that Reflected their Values
Years later, a chance connection with Xiomara González, the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Plaza del Sol, deepened the Firpo family’s appreciation for the brand. Regular visits to her restaurant reinforced what they admired most about Chick-fil-A: its commitment to hospitality, excellence, and clear sense of purpose. Then one evening, his daughter Natalia turned to her dad and said, “Papi, Chick-fil-A is the business we’ve been looking for. It aligns with who we are and it’s growing in Puerto Rico.” That same night, the family began researching the company and submitted David’s application.
Now, as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Isabela, David is eager to bring his vision to life: a restaurant grounded in care, connection, and a sense of belonging.
“I want our Guests to feel like family,” said David. “Whether they’re celebrating a birthday or simply sharing a meal, Chick-fil-A Isabela will be a place where people feel seen, valued, and at home.”
A Family-Led Culture of Growth and Care
Staying true to his values, David is building the business with those who matter most. Andrea will play a key role in supporting the team and shaping a positive work environment, while Natalia will work alongside David in day-to-day operations, bringing energy and fresh insight to their shared mission. Vilmarie will support the Restaurant with her warmth and attention to detail, creating an inviting atmosphere for every Guest. For David, involving his family isn’t just a personal decision - it’s central to the culture he wants to build.
That same care will extend to his Team Members. David is committed to cultivating a workplace where people can thrive professionally and personally. “You don’t have to start big to go far,” said David. “With strong values, heart, and dedication, you can achieve more than you ever imagined.” He sees himself not just as the local Owner-Operator, but as a working leader — present, supportive and leading by example. When it opens, David’s Restaurant will employ approximately 120 Team Members, and he is proud to help create jobs on the Island.
Looking ahead, the Firpo family is eager to give back to the community that welcomed them. They plan to celebrate the opening of the new restaurant by honoring 100 local community heroes with one year of free Chick-fil-A food and participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® surplus food donation program. For David, the goal is simple: serve with purpose and uplift others. This journey isn’t just about business – it’s about living out the values that have always guided his life: love, unity, and joy.
“Chick-fil-A Isabela will be more than just a Restaurant,” said David. “It will be a place to gather, celebrate, and enjoy quality time. We’re excited to welcome every Guest with the same care we share around our family table.”
