Restaurant Brings Approximately 50 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year

CHICAGO (JUNE 12, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Illinois Medical District community on Thursday, June 15. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Emily Groom as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Illinois Medical District.

Located at 713 S Seeley Ave., Chick-fil-A Illinois Medical District will be open for dine-in and carry-out from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Guests of Chick-fil-A Illinois Medical District can place an order for pickup, dine-in or delivery on the Chick-fil-A® App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One® tiered membership program, guests receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards. Visit chick-fil-a.com/delivery to view delivery options in your area.

The Illinois Medical District restaurant joins 47 other Chick-fil-A’s serving the greater Chicagoland region. As part of the brand’s broader plans to develop its market footprint and open 10-15 new restaurants by 2025, Illinois Medical District is the third of five Chick-fil-A restaurants slated to open in Chicagoland by the year’s end.

Locally Owned and Operated
As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.

In Illinois Medical District, Groom will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 50 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Groom is grateful for the opportunity to continue growing Chick-fil-A's footprint in her hometown. While attending college in South Carolina, Groom had her first bites of Chick-fil-A at a licensed location on campus and wanted to learn more about the restaurant company. With years of experience in professional dance companies, she quickly applied that same level of excellence to the restaurant. Groom joined Chick-fil-A North Myrtle Beach to support the restaurant’s marketing efforts, where she met her husband Phil. Passionate about providing a remarkable experience for guests, she went on to advance as the restaurant’s Operations Director. In 2017, Groom was accepted into the Chick-fil-A® Leadership Development Program, where she supported 11 restaurant openings across the country. Now, back in Chicago, Groom looks forward to stepping into the Operator role.

“Our medical community cares so deeply for its patients, and it’s my hope that our restaurant shares that same level of care in return,” said Groom. “In my journey to becoming an Operator, I understand how important it is to provide a safe place for my team to work and grow with one another. Together, we have such a special opportunity to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with the restaurant, support our community and engage with organizations that help underserved Chicagoans.”

Caring for the Illinois Medical District Community
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Chicagoland area to aid in the fight against hunger.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Illinois Medical District is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Illinois Medical District area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.

Team Member Investment
Chick-fil-A Operators are committed to hiring, developing and retaining top talent and providing a positive work environment for people of all ages and backgrounds. Team Members have opportunities for flexible work hours and leadership growth, competitive pay and benefits, hands-on training and mentoring and the chance to apply for scholarships to support their continuing education.

Delicious Food; Outstanding Customer Service

Chick-fil-A is known for creating a welcoming, remarkable restaurant experience, serving customers great-tasting food made with high-quality ingredients, including the original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich. Made with a real, whole, boneless breast of chicken with no added fillers, the breaded chicken is pressure cooked in fully-refined peanut oil. Chick-fil-A was one of the first in the industry to eliminate chicken raised with antibiotics to ensure guests have an option for high-quality food on the go.

To complement the great-tasting chicken, fresh produce is delivered to Chick-fil-A restaurants up to six times a week for the best quality and flavor. The fresh ingredients are raised and grown by farmers who share the company's elevated quality and safety standards, so guests feel good about their meal.
