PENFIELD, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2026) – The first Chick-fil-A® restaurant in Penfield will begin serving Guests in Penfield on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 a.m., with Chick-fil-A, Inc. selecting Ian Smith to serve as its local Owner-Operator.

Located at 2051 Fairpoint Nine Mile Point Road, Chick-fil-A Penfield will serve Guests Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, delivery, catering and Mobile Thru. The restaurant marks Chick-fil-A’s entry into Penfield, bringing the brand’s signature hospitality and approximately 100 jobs to the community.

To celebrate, Guests are invited to join the fun by dressing in cow print on opening day to receive a free entrée.

Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are locally owned and operated by a single individual, with local Owner-Operators serving as small business owners who are invested in the growth of their restaurants and Team Members. In Penfield, Smith will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business.

“My first local Owner-Operator showed me the impact a local restaurant can have when you take the time to invest in people and make everyone who walks through the doors feel welcome,” said Smith. “That example has stayed with me throughout my Chick-fil-A journey, and I’m excited to carry it forward in Penfield. I’m eager to get to know our neighbors, creating meaningful opportunities for Team Members and building a restaurant that is truly part of the community.”

More About Smith

  • Smith’s path to becoming a Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operator began with a desire to find a career that would allow him to be more present with his family and connected to his community. After transitioning from the automobile industry to join Chick-fil-A as a Team Member, he spent the next decade learning the business, developing as a leader and preparing for the opportunity to one day lead a restaurant of his own.
  • Now, as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Penfield, Smith is excited to put down roots and build lasting relationships in the community. Inspired by the leadership he experienced early in his Chick-fil-A career, he hopes to create a welcoming restaurant where Team Members have opportunities to grow, and Guests feel genuinely cared for.

Opening Day Moove-In Party at Chick-fil-A Penfield
To celebrate the restaurant moo-ving into town, Smith and his team are inviting the community to show off their cow spots on opening day for a free entrée.

  • Since 1995, the Cows have been a beloved part of Chick-fil-A, encouraging humans to skip burgers and “Eat More Chikin” – and now it’s Penfield’s turn to join the herd.
  • Guests dressed in cow print – whether it’s a full cow costume or a simple cow-spotted accessory – can enjoy one free entrée or kid’s meal* in person inside the restaurant or in the drive-thru.

Caring for the Penfield Community
Smith is committed to giving back to the Penfield community by:

  • Providing a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to Feeding America to support the local hunger relief efforts of Foodlink, Inc. a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
  • Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits. The program has helped to create over 50 million meals nationwide to date.
