Restaurant Brings Approximately 125 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year

MONT BELVIEU, Texas (Aug. 26, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Mont Belvieu community on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Edmond Long, Jr. as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Barbers Hill.

Located at 9619 Eagle Drive, Chick-fil-A Barbers Hill will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, delivery, and Mobile Thru from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The Barbers Hill restaurant joins more than 130 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Houston market.

Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.

In Mont Belvieu, Long will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 125 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Mont Belvieu community’s needs.

Long served in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years, where working with junior Marines sparked a desire in his heart to pursue a career where he could make a positive impact on young people. After reconnecting with his childhood friend who also happened to own a Chick-fil-A restaurant, Long realized that becoming a Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operator was the perfect next move in his career.

In 2016, Long was selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A La Palmera Mall in Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2020, Long relocated to the Mont Belvieu area to serve as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Chambers Town Center, which he will continue to operate alongside the new Barbers Hill restaurant. Long is excited to make an even bigger impact in a community that is so close to his heart, and he looks forward to providing more opportunities for Team Members through the new restaurant.

“My hope is for this new restaurant to be a home for opportunity: a place for Team Members to grow and belong, for families to gather, and for the community to feel loved and supported,” Long said. “Chick-fil-A Barbers Hill is a significant step to continue living out that vision and expanding those opportunities.”

Caring for the Mont Belvieu Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Houston Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.

Long’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 25 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, Chick-fil-A Barbers Hill is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Mont Belvieu area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
