Chick-fil-A Announces New Bowie Restaurant, Opening May 11

Restaurant Brings Approximately 130 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Meals for a Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 9, 2023) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Bowie community on Thursday, May 11. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Vance Pittman as the independent franchised Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Balk Hill.  

Located at 2027 Saint Josephs Dr., Chick-fil-A Balk Hill will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry-out from 6:30 am – 10:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. Guests of Chick-fil-A Balk Hill can place an order for pickup, dine-in or delivery on the Chick-fil-A® App or online. When joining the Chick-fil-A One® tiered membership program, guests receive points on every qualifying purchase which can be used to redeem available rewards. The Balk Hill restaurant joins 92 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the wider Washington, D.C. market.

As full-time, hands-on leaders in their restaurants and communities, Chick-fil-A Owner/Operators proudly reside in the areas in which they serve.  

In Bowie, Pittman will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 130 full- and part-time Team Members, serving guests and cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses.  

Hailing from Philadelphia, Pittman first tried Chick-fil-A at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, the very same restaurant where he grew from serving as a Team Member to leading as the Director of Operations. With 25 years of experience with the restaurant company, Pittman is thrilled to now call Maryland home alongside his wife, Dr. Nakia Pittman and their son LJ. With a heart for service, Pittman’s family started a food donation program in the greater Philadelphia area for families in need during the holiday season, and they look forward to establishing a similar program to care for their new community in Bowie.  

“As someone who was afforded the opportunity to grow professionally and personally in the restaurant, I am looking forward to helping our Team Members realize their passion and cultivate valuable leadership skills,” said Pittman. “We have so many ways to show care, and it’s my hope that our restaurant has a positive influence within and beyond our restaurant doors, for our Team Members, guests and the community.” 

Caring for the Bowie Community  
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America in honor of the new restaurant. These funds will be distributed to partners in the greater Washington, D.C. area to aid in the fight against hunger.  

In addition, Chick-fil-A Balk Hill is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Bowie area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A meals for a year.  

Pittman’s restaurant will plan to participate in Chick-fil-A Shared Table®, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 18 million meals have been served nationwide from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations.
