Boston Owner-Operators achieve 100% participation, donating surplus food to local nonprofits
Greater Boston is a community built on rich history and vibrant neighborhoods. While Boston is known for bringing people together, food insecurity continues to affect thousands across the area. According to Feeding America, one in eight people living in Massachusetts face food insecurity.
Local Chick-fil-A® Owner-Operators across Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire are helping address this challenge through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table ® program. By donating surplus food — including protein-rich items like filets, nuggets and eggs — from their restaurants to local nonprofit organizations and food banks, they help provide nourishing, high-protein meals to neighbors and families experiencing food insecurity. Nonprofit partners transform these donations into dishes like chicken and dumplings, chicken parmesan, and chicken tacos and enchiladas. As of August 2026, every Chick-fil-A restaurant across Greater Boston participates in the Shared Table program, marking 100% participation across the community.
Feeding Greater Boston, One Meal at a Time
Together, Chick-fil-A restaurants across Greater Boston and Southern New Hampshire have donated 330,332 meals so far in 2026 through the Shared Table program, helping nonprofit organizations expand their reach while reducing food waste throughout the community.
“Greater Boston has always been a community that looks out for one another. With every Chick-fil-A restaurant across Greater Boston now participating in the Shared Table program, we have an opportunity to expand our impact. We look forward to building on these relationships and helping serve even more neighbors in the years ahead.”
– Annemarie Cash, Local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Hyannis
Partnerships That Make a Difference
Shared Table’s impact can be seen through Boston Rescue Mission, which serves people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in Greater Boston. Through emergency shelter, recovery programs and daily meals, the organization provides both immediate support and pathways toward long-term stability. Local Owner-Operator Matt DeMichele-Rigoni, who Operates Chick-fil-A Copley Square and Chick-fil-A Boston Delivery, partners with Boston Rescue Mission to help supplement the organization’s meal service with fresh ingredients.
“One of the most rewarding parts of being a local Owner-Operator is building relationships with organizations that care so deeply about our community,” said De-Michele-Rigoni. “When you see firsthand the care Boston Rescue Mission shows every person who walks through its doors, you’re reminded how meaningful a simple meal can be. I’m grateful Shared Table gives us the opportunity to support their mission and serve our neighbors together.”
Serving Communities Nationwide
Across the country, Chick-fil-A restaurants have helped their nonprofit partners create more than 50 million meals through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program. With 100% participation across Greater Boston, local Owner-Operators are proud to be part of a movement that transforms surplus food into nourishment and hope for neighbors across their communities.
