Restaurant Brings Approximately 80 Full- and Part-Time Jobs to Community, Honors 100 Local Heroes with Free Chick-fil-A Entrées for a Year
TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 12, 2024) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the Topeka community on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. Chick-fil-A, Inc. has selected Justin Lamison as the independent franchised local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A South Topeka Blvd, marking his second restaurant in the community.
Located at 3231 SW Topeka Blvd, Chick-fil-A South Topeka Blvd will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday for dine-in, carry-out, third-party delivery and Mobile Thru, a fully dedicated lane in the drive-thru where Guests can pick up orders placed on the Chick-fil-A® App. The drive-thru will remain open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
Locally Owned and Operated
Chick-fil-A’s franchise model is essential to how the restaurant serves others. Most Chick-fil-A restaurants are owned and operated by a single individual, which means Chick-fil-A’s local Owner-Operators are small business owners, not passive investors, who work in their restaurants side by side with their Team Members each day.
In Topeka, Lamison will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business, including employing approximately 80 full- and part-time Team Members, serving Guests, cultivating relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet the Topeka community’s needs.
Before being selected as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A 17th & Wanamaker nearly eight years ago, Lamison served as a middle school history and geography teacher in the Baltimore area. During his time as an educator, he was introduced to Chick-fil-A’s local ownership model by one of his student’s fathers, Joe Dinoto Jr., a local Chick-fil-A Owner-Operator and mentor.
Eager to learn more about owning a small business, Lamison forged a new career path and began working as a Team Member at one of Dinoto’s Chick-fil-A restaurants outside of Baltimore. While honing his skills in hospitality for more than three years, he served as a trainer for restaurant openings across the Northeast and later joined the company’s Interim Manager program, where he supported company-owned restaurants. Now, set to open his second restaurant in the Topeka area, Lamison is looking forward to doubling the opportunities to care for Team Members, Guests and the community.
“Our family moved to Topeka a decade ago, and from the start, the community greeted us with warmth and kindness. We absolutely love it here, and we’re proud to call Topeka home,” said Lamison. “Now, with our two restaurants just seven miles apart, we remain dedicated to having a positive impact on everyone we meet. Our goal is for Chick-fil-A 17th & Wanamaker and South Topeka Blvd to be beloved restaurants on both sides of the counter.”
Caring for the Topeka Community
The Chick-fil-A business is built to add positive impact beyond profit, including giving back to local communities. Chick-fil-A local Owner-Operators are empowered to support the neighborhoods they serve with a key focus on hunger, education, and specific community needs.
In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Harvesters, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
Lamison’s restaurant will plan to participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.
In addition, Chick-fil-A South Topeka Blvd is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the Topeka area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
