Led by former Air Force major general Floyd Carpenter
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (Nov. 24, 2025) – A new Chick-fil-A® restaurant will begin serving the San Antonio community at its newest location on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., creating approximately 75 jobs. Chick-fil-A, Inc. selected Floyd Carpenter to be the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A South Flores, marking his second restaurant in the community.
Located at 150 SW Military Dr., Chick-fil-A South Flores will serve Guests Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out, third-party delivery, catering and Mobile Thru.
Locally Owned and Operated
“While I’ve always loved fried chicken, ironically, many of the cities that I was stationed in didn’t have a Chick-fil-A restaurant,” said Carpenter. “After tasting the brand’s delicious food for the first time in 2006 and experiencing the Cathy family’s sincere hospitality, I knew I wanted to operate my own Chick-fil-A. Now with the opening of my second restaurant, I’m honored to serve the vibrant South Side community and continue our mission to be known as San Antonio’s most caring company.”
Carpenter grew up in East Texas but has always felt an affinity for San Antonio and the diverse communities that contribute to its culture. While serving in the Air Force and flying jets out of Kelly Field, now part of Lackland Air Force Base, Carpenter knew he wanted to pursue business ownership, and after visiting a Chick-fil-A with his daughter-in-law in 2006, he recognized it as the ideal place to do so. Carpenter retired from the military after 33 years of service, and he was thrilled to return to the city that held so many fond memories as a Chick-fil-A Operator for his current location, Chick-fil-A Southwest Military, in 2012. With the opening of Chick-fil-A South Flores, Carpenter is thrilled to continue engaging with the community and leaning into his passion of serving military families.
Caring for the San Antonio Community
Carpenter is committed to giving back to the San Antonio community by:
- Celebrating the opening with a $25,000 donation from Chick-fil-A, Inc. to support local hunger relief efforts of San Antonio Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant.
- Participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits, helping to create over 42 million meals nationwide to date.
- Continuing to support his employees beyond the workplace. Since 2012, Carpenter has made it his mission to provide opportunities for growth both professionally and academically, awarding more than 90 scholarships totaling $162,000 to help Team Members pursue their educational goals and achieve success.
Chick-fil-A Seguin joins two additional San Antonio-area Chick-fil-A restaurants that opened this fall, with each restaurant uniquely designed to best serve its neighboring community. Chick-fil-A Universal City and Chick-fil-A Seguin opened in October. Combined, the three restaurants add more than 250 full- and part-time jobs to the community. In honor of the three new restaurant openings, Chick-fil-A is donating $75,000 to the San Antonio Food Bank.
